In memory of Aaron Silberman: Passionate lover of all things engineering, education, and gaming.
UPDATE 9/15/23 - WE HAVE MET OUR GOAL!
Due to the incredible generosity of the community, we have successfully obtained all of the equipment we needed to make our dream classroom a reality! However, this does not mean that your help is no longer needed. Postman's family now has to face all the expenditures that come with losing a loved one. Any additional funds will be given directly to the family to help cover funeral expenses and much more.
Please consider donating to this fund if you would like your contribution to reach the family.
Free Geek would like to the extend its very heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers and board members, Hakko USA, and Zedlabz for their donations of equipment.
On Sunday August 27th, the community lost a beloved son, brother, friend, entrepreneur, volunteer, and mentor. Aaron Silberman — also known as Posty or Postman online — was a prominent figure in the console modification community and founder of the company Gamebox.
Aaron was a volunteer at Free Geek Twin Cities and a teacher's aide for Free Geek's Soldering 101 course. Aaron was deeply, deeply passionate about teaching others, it could be seen in his excitement and eagerness to help teach the class. When he wasn't teaching a course at Free Geek, he could be found scuttling back and forth between the audio/video and gaming departments, his signature laughter following him wherever he went. He adored Free Geek and everything it stands for.
Free Geek Twin Cities will be collecting technology donations and funds in Aaron’s name.
This fund will be used to further the educational reach of the class he loved so much. We intend to purchase a high-end solder rework station — something he so often wished for — and will use it to teach students in our advanced courses. Any additional funds will go toward subsidizing free solder kits for students who attend the class.
You will never be forgotten, Aaron. Thank you for honoring us with
the amazing memories, guidance, and care that you showed us all.
