HELP NEEDED: JOIN THE FUN!

We have more donations coming in than ever before! We always need volunteers to help process the increasing flow of electronics.

We have tasks that volunteers with different skillsets and interests can do. If you are looking to volunteer, explore opportunitites below to find the best fit for you.

Most departments are open for walk-in volunteering - check the hours!

You can also fill out an application (below) to be invited.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

All Ages Welcome!

Volunteers under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult guardian.

Recycling

Description:

Taking apart electronics such as computers and audio/video equipment. Does not require any skills! This is where Free Geek needs the most help!

How to volunteer:

No application required! Show up anytime during recycling room volunteering hours (see below) and our recycling manager (Wes) will help you get started!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Modern Computer Refurbishing (Build)

Description:
Testing and fixing modern computers. Free Geek will teach you how to do this, but some familiarity with modern computers is necessary to get started.

How to volunteer:
New! Due to popular demand, we are now requiring advance sign-ups to help in Modern Build.

Retro Computer Refurbishing (Retro)

Description:

Testing and fixing computers that are more than 15 years old. This group is heavy on nostalgia. Anyone who has built a computer before will be able to help here, but more help is needed from those with experience working on 486 and older.

How to volunteer:

No application required! Show up anytime during our retro computer refurbishing hours (see below) and our volunteering coordinator (Andrew) will help you get started.

Apple Computer Refurbishing (Mac)

Description:
Fixing Apple products of all kinds (old and new). Skill level depends on the system, but generally easier for people who already have experience with Apple products.

How to volunteer:
Fill out an application form below. Once your application is reviewed, you will receive an email inviting you to sign up to volunteer in Apple.

Game Console Testing

Description:

Testing console games! Only requires some experience playing console games. More experienced volunteers can also fix consoles.

How to volunteer:

Fill out the application form below. The gaming team is currently accepting volunteers who already have experience with gaming consoles.

Audio/Video Testing

Description:
Testing different types of audio/video devices, like CD/DVD/VCR players, speakers, professional a/v equipment and TVs. Most help is needed with testing receivers.

How to volunteer:
The audio team is currently unavailable to take new volunteers! Check back soon!
