FGTC Newsletter March 2023

Hello again! It’s the Free Geek Twin Cities Newsletter here, back with a transmission report on what’s been going on in our world:

Winter Projects Transition into Spring Cleaning

We hope you’ve been staying warm with fun projects this winter!

Our store remains stocked with PCs, computer parts, A.V. equipment, and more to aid you along the way. Come by and shop during our open hours, Wednesday-Sunday from noon-5pm.

After winter, comes spring…. we promise :)

Once the warm weather is here, Free Geek will be standing by to help with your spring cleaning. Donation drop offs can be made any time during our operating hours, Wednesday-Sunday from noon-5pm.

The Secret’s Out!

We recently added a vinyl ‘Electronics Thrift Store’ sign to our building!

Free Geek Logo sign and new ‘Electronics Thrift Store’ sign. Dumpsters included for aesthetics.

Before, with the ‘Free Geek’ logo as our only building sign, you kind of had to be ‘in the know’ to see what our organization is all about.

Our new sign helps to get the word out about the Free Geek community to our friends and neighbors. The uptick in interest has been noticeable!

FGTC Featured in Linus Tech Tips Video

Look mom- we’re famous again.

Linus from Linus Tech Tips holding a Free Geek Twin Cities build sheet

A few months back, we stumbled across an interesting device in the gaming department. It was a prototype Steam Console!

Sadly, it was broken. Instead of sending this fun, rare find to the scrap room, we thought: Who better to give it the attention it deserves than Linus Tech Tips?

Based out of Vancouver, CA, Linus Tech Tips is one of the most popular Tech Youtubers with over 15 million subscribers.

It’s pretty exciting to see our Free Geek build sheet featured on such a large platform enjoyed by like-minded enthusiasts around the world.

Staff Expansion

Free Geek has been growing! During reduced operations in 2020, we had a small staff of five. Since then, continued success has allowed us to expand and hire more team members.

We now have more than a dozen dedicated employees whose hard work and passion ensure Free Geek runs smoothly and who continue to serve our mission in new and creative ways.
